If you are a parent/guardian and the client is a minor, please indicate such and provide their age, name, and email address. I cater to clients ages twelve and older.

I will respond as promptly as possible and look forward to speaking with you.

What can I expect in my first session?
During our first session (intake session), you and I will have the opportunity to learn about each other and begin our therapeutic relationship. I look forward to meeting with you and learning about your story.

We will go over your intake paperwork and perhaps complete some further assessment. I will take time to explain my therapeutic approach at this first appointment and will go over confidentiality, informed consent, and when I am obligated to report issues of safety.
Zia Counseling caters to clients ages twelve through adult.

How often do you see clients?
After our initial appointment, I typically suggest starting therapy once a week for at least four weeks. During this time we are developing a treatment plan and building a strong therapeutic alliance.

Billing and Rates for Services
Zia Counseling is a private practice and does not file insurance. Clients pay for counseling services on a self-pay basis.
This allows clients to have a more confidential, treatment-specific therapy experience.
.
Advantages to self-pay therapy:

-
Self-pay counseling confines sensitive information strictly between you and your therapist and not part of your permanent medical record.

-
An insurance company has access to your diagnosis, treatment plan, and progress notes and may impose restrictions on the type, frequency, and duration of therapy sessions.

-
With self-pay, you and your therapist can decide on the most appropriate plan without external constraints.

Forms of payment accepted:
Credit Cards, Health Savings, and Flexible Spending cards are all accepted and are paid through your secure portal.
-
The standard credit card fees apply when using this payment method. One of these forms of payment must be on file.
-
All fees will be paid the day of services.
Cash payments are accepted, however Zia Counseling does not keep cash on hand and will therefore not be able to provide change. Please bring exact amount for services when paying cash.

-
Venmo, PayPal, and other electronic payment methods are not accepted.
Rates for services:

Individuals: $125.00

Couples: $150.00

No Surprises Act/Good Faith Estimate
You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost Under Section 2799B-6 of the Public Health Service Act, health care providers and health care facilities are required to inform individuals who are not enrolled in a plan or coverage or a Federal health care program, or not seeking to file a claim with their plan or coverage both orally and in writing of their ability, upon request or at the time of scheduling health care items and services, to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” of expected charges. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
• Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service.
• If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill.
